Alcohol norm

A big part of the Swedish and other societies expects alcohol to be an important part of a person's social life – that is called alcohol norm. The alcohol norm puts pressure on people to see alcohol as social competence in a bottle. It makes a natural thing like drinking drinks free from alcohol look unnatural. It makes the people who drink alcohol look normal – the norm. The addition, alcohol, becomes the norm. It becomes the definition of a party. Alcohol is considered the icing of the cake, something special, luxurious, a necessity for adults on festive occasions. Whenever something is celebrated the bottle is a must. Children and youth learn that "a party is not a party without alcohol". Fake Free loves a party but wants to see a more balanced picture where the party is at the centre of attention – not the alcohol.
